In 2001 Heather Cressey and Abe Furth were undergraduates at the University of Maine. During summer break they put a backpack on an old motorcycle and went on a two month camping trip around the country. While they were in California and Oregon they discovered the amazing food of the roadside burrito shops. The burritos were filling, affordable, and tasted great. They were unlike any other burritos Abe or Heather had ever experienced. They brought those memories home with them to Maine, and decided to someday open their own burrito shop.
A couple years later Abe and Heather got married and started Woodman’s Bar & Grill, but they kept their dream of opening the burrito shop alive. Finally, in 2008, the Furths decided it was time to make it happen. They traveled back to the West coast and visited their favorite burrito shop to get the recipes. Abe and Heather tweaked the recipes to make them super healthy, and in 2009, eight years after they had their first great burrito, Verve opened. 2013 marked another milestone for Verve, when Verve Bangor opened!
